Hospital of Projects is open for submissions

One of the activities guaranteed in 2nd edition of Lanterna Mágica programming is the Hospital of Projects with the aim of improving film projects under development. Participants will have the opportunity to pitch a feature film in development and listen to suggestions for working with the film.

Hospital of Projects will be held on May 24 and 25, at 10am, at Espaço Sonhus in Goiânia. On the first day, each participant will pitch their project (maximum 7 minutes) and on the second day a one-to-one session will take a place (maximum 15 minutes).

In this edition the Hospital will be merely educational. Prizes won’t be awarded. However, those selected will have participation certificates.

Who can submit a project?

  • Directors and/or producers who are developing an animation, fiction or documentary project.
  • Portuguese, Spanish or English is required (one of these three languages).

PS.: In the case of directors, there is no need to have a producer or company involved in the film.


Each participant can submit a project until May 20, sending the following information to the email, with the subject [PROJECT NAME, Hospital de Projetos II Lanterna Mágica]:

*Project title
*Short Synopsis (max. 1 sheet)
*Argument (max. 15 sheets)
*Director Motivation Letter (max. 1 sheet)
*Proposal of Technique to be used (in the case of animation projects)
*Biographical Summary (max. 1 sheet)
*Budget (max. 2 sheets)
*Financing plan: how do you plan to fund the project, with possible investors, quantities and dates (max. 1 sheet)

Images, tests, teasers, drawings can be displayed. Any additional information will be taken into consideration but its presentation is not obligatory.

The sessions will be accompanied by the producer Reínel García!

Reínel Garcia – Graduated in production in Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Cuba, and EURODOC, a training program in European coproduction and distribution. He currently lives in Rio de Janeiro, where he also studied in the production area at Darcy Ribeiro Film School. He is a producer at fila20 filmes, producer company who has had projects selected for major festivals such as Sundance, Cannes and Glasgow. Reinel worked in the award-winning film Numa Escola de Havana, a Cuban representative in the Oscar race in 2015. He is currently working on the post-production of the films 5 Cenas de Bahía, Cuba Entre Sol e Luz e Havana em Movimento.
